Interesting Tidbits

Check back here frequently for updates.

  • There are tunnels beneath busy streets so pedestrians are able to cross the street without risking his or her own life.  However, there is one small problem, some of these tunnels are not lit. At all. And some are a couple hundred feet long.  Walking through them at night, alone, is kind of scary.
  • There are grape vines growing everywhere.
  • Black is often the color of choice (wardrobe) for Georgians.
  • Something I had forgotten about Russia but was reminded of when coming to Georgia: the amount of English language covers of popular music, often done in very strange ways.
  • There is no concept of lines in Georgia. It is everyone for themselves; which, if you want to make it, involves pushing, shoving, and standing your ground.  It's either that, or wait the entire day.
  • Georgians tend to be very animated people. Frequently, voices are raised...especially in classrooms. I think it might happen too much because I have not seen one student bat an eye while under the gun.
  • At least in Adjaran region, Georgians are coffee drinkers and not tea drinkers, much to my consternation. I do like their coffee, though.
